SETTLED SQUAD
The midfielder of Fulham, Steve Sidwell, has said that Martin Jol should make the summer signings early to give the squad a settled look before pre-season.
The last season wasn’t that successful for Fulham. They were inconsistent for most parts of the season and ended up at no. 12 in the Premier League points table. They managed to win just 11 out of their 38 matches.
When asked about Fulham’s performance in the last season, Sidwell said, “It was a mixed season for us. We were terrific in some games, but, in others, we were ordinary. We struggled for consistency throughout the season.”
“We had quite a few young players in the squad last season. So, you can say that it was a transitional season for us.”
“There will be some young guys coming in this summer as well. It’s important to make those signings as early as possible so that we can have a settled squad before the start of the pre-season training.”
“I am very excited to see who arrives this summer. Last time around, some hugely talented guys had come in.”
Fulham has already signed a few players this summer. The most noticeable of those signings is Maarten Stekelenburg who has plenty of experience in club football.
Fulham has bought Stekelenburg from Roma after paying a transfer fee of 6 million Euros.
Fulham’s other signings this summer are Fernando Amorebieta (from Athletic Bilbao) and Derek Boateng (from Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk).
Fulham is also linked with the English midfielder Scott Parker who is expected to be put on sale by Tottenham Hotspur.
However, securing the services of Parker is not going to be that easy for Fulham as many other clubs including Queens Park Rangers and Sunderland are also interested in him.
